Picos Blue (200g)
From the Picos De Europa mountains in Northern Spain comes this very strong, dry, salty blue cheese originally introduced to the area by French Pilgrims travelling in the mountains. Picos Blue is made with a mixture of cows and goats milk and has many afficinados. It is matured in mountain caves for at least three months and wrapped in maple or chestnut leaves. Rumour has it that local people mix the cheese to a paste with cider - try it if you dare! We prefer it with a rich, thick, sweet sherry. Made with unpasteurised milk and animal rennet

Feeling adventurous I bought some Picos Blue today at this very shop.
I was astounded by how strong it tasted even from the smallest peanut sized chunk.
It is an acquired taste but very very delicious if you can withstand the inital blast of flavour. It leaves a very creamy taste in your mouth for a long time after.
It works very well on a sliced baguette with some mirabelle jelly which just took the edge off the cheese which the gentlemen behind the counter kindly recommended.
I will definitely buy from this shop again.
